My good friends Allen and Jordan asked if I would take their anniversary pictures at the Catoosa Sunflower Field. Jordan’s vision for this session was a bit different than my normal couples shoot. She was looking for more of a moody, romantic, serious type of session. Normally, I shoot more true to color and I love more joyous type of photos, but this sounded too fun to resist! I love pushing myself to try new things and get creative with my work. This session was the perfect way to get me out of my comfort zone!
I learned so much from switching things up. I feel like it grew me as a photographer and allowed me to look at locations in a new way. Catoosa Sunflower field is also a beautiful location to shoot at! They have a large field and they did a great job of making sure it was not too crowded. We also had the weather on our side for the type of vibe we were going for.
It was insanely hot and humid which was a challenge, BUT it was also dark and gloomy. It even rained right at the end of the session. This is exactly what we wanted in order for the pictures to have that dark moody feel to them. I also had Jordan and Allen wear black. If you want moody, wear dark colors. All of that heaviness is perfect for this kind of session!
I am so happy with the way these pictures turned out. I got one of my greatest compliments ever from Jordan when she said that she had never felt prettier than she did in the black and white photo I sent her with the sneak peeks. That is the exact reason I love being a photographer!! My goal at a session is to make you feel beautiful and like your true self! I hope you love these as much as I do!
